ABOUT US

The Race to 2030 exists to strengthen action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Race is run by the Greendeals Charitable Trust, which brings together leaders from the business, government and non-profit sectors, to provide solutions that strengthen climate action, protect biodiversity, and promote sustainability and resilience in New Zealand.

While concern about the climate crisis is increasing throughout New Zealand, translating concern into action can seem overly complex and costly. We believe in making climate action more accessible and achievable.

The Race to 2030 helps businesses and organisations set appropriate reduction targets and access effective solutions to achieve these, in line with internationally accepted best practices and science-based targets. In particular, we empower businesses to achieve incremental annual emissions reductions and become climate winners each year, starting in 2024.

The Greendeals Charitable Trust is a registered Charitable Trust based in Wellington, New Zealand (registration number CC53338).

OUR PURPOSE

Our initial focus is on mainstreaming emissions reduction in the business sector. However, our charitable purpose comprises the following three priority areas:

Climate - To protect the environment and combat climate change, for the benefit of all, by: pursuing the reduction and removal of greenhouse gas emissions; protecting biodiversity; reducing pollutants and waste; and promoting resilience concerning climate impacts.

Sustainability - To promote environmental sustainability, by increasing the use of renewable energy.

Community - To alleviate poverty and promote child health, by using environmental solutions to work towards the eradication of preventable respiratory diseases in children.
